This Melted Ice Cream Hot Chocolate is so luscious and creamy, that it could very well be considered dessert.
Yes, it’s time for a splurge. It’s a bit naughty, true, but oh so nice too. Not long ago my friend and I were chatting about a new bakery that opened up near our office. It’s a lovely bakery that has so many unique European baked goods. Luscious lattes made with love.
Always with my wheels spinning, I couldn’t help but think of ways to make a latte or a cocoa even more decadent.
When you make this hot chocolate using ice cream, you may never opt for another regular hot chocolate ever again. I highly recommend using dutch process cocoa for this recipe. Dutch process cocoa has a smoother, more mellow flavor that’s often associated with earthy, woodsy notes and is darker than natural cocoa.
Make this special hot chocolate for a special treat any time of the year.

- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup dutch processed cocoa
- pinch of sea salt
- In a medium saucepan, combine the milk with the sugar and a pinch of salt and cook over moderate heat, whisking, until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Whisk in the cocoa powder until incorporated. Add the ice cream and cook over moderate heat, whisking, until smooth and hot, about 3 minutes. Ladle the chocolate into mugs
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
